Today, I have brought for you, the review of a projector whose picture quality is very good among the budget category projectors. This projector comes from the Wzatco company, and, is their premium flagship model. The company claims that this projector is capable of giving you a high-end cinematic experience, which none of the other projectors in the budget category is capable of giving.
This is the only projector in the budget category that
supports 4k & HDR in the true sense. The products that do not pass our test
are rejected and sent back to the company without any review.
This is the newly released Alpha one full HD projector from Wzatco, which comes in this sort of box on which the highlights of the projector are mentioned. Apart from the company's 12 months all India warranty assurance, the email address of Wzatco's official website, their customer care service email and their toll-free number are mentioned on this box.
Inside the box
There is a well-made good quality bag, which grants this projector the portability to carry it anywhere with you. Inside this bag, apart from the projector, there is a remote, a plastic lens cover, an HDMI cable, a power cord, a user manual guide, a warranty card, and this cleaning kit through which you can clean the projector occasionally.
The projector is pretty elegant and premium in looks. High-quality white ABS plastic has been used in its construction. On the upper surface, there is a fabric finish, which accentuates the overall look of this projector. On the backside of the upper surface, a cutting has been done in the fabric material to make provision for the physical buttons.
Besides the lens, there is the Wzatco branding. On the left side of the projector, adequate vents have been provided for heat dissipation. On the right side, there is a manual focus wheel that comes embedded within the power button.
Behind the focus wheel, there is a removable dust filter. On the backside, there is a power port along with an on/off switch button. Apart from this, there are 2 USB ports, 2 HDMI ports, a headphone jack and an IR blaster. Underneath this projector, all details are mentioned, apart from 4 screw threads for the ceiling mount.
For stability during desktop projection, 4 curved rubber legs have been provided. The remote is a basic one in which you get buttons for almost all functions. It also houses a button for electronic focusing. Now let's talk about the company's given specifications.
According to the company the contrast ratio of this projector is 6000:1, brightness 840 ANSI or 9500 Lumens. Along with electronic focusing, you get 4D keystone correction on this projector. The projector comes with an upgraded IPS display and has BrightVis Technology because of this you get to see a wide color gamut, enhanced contrast and realistic pictures on it.
Specification
The projector also has VibraColor Technology, which produces a billion colours, thereby making the colour reproduction of this projector vibrant. This projector gives 100% coverage of the NTSC colour gamut. It has dual-band Wi-Fi, Android 9 and Bluetooth v5.0. the company claims that in the affordable category, it is the brightest projector made to date, which imparts the next level of cinematic experience.
According to the company, this projector is 65% brighter than other projectors falling in the budget category. The company claims that this projector supports HDR 10, which in association with their BrightVis technology grants an immersive viewing experience. The projector comes with dual 5W Hi-Fi speakers that support Dolby, DTS Plus and AC3 format. It has 1 GB DDR4 RAM and 32 GB eMMC storage on it and comes fitted with a MediaTek 9255 64-bit Quadcore processor. For graphics, it has an ARM Mali G31 MP2 processor.
Performance
So these all were the company given specifications, now let's talk about its real performance. So, as I have been saying regularly that all companies give exaggerated values of brightness and contrast, the same is true with this projector too. Though not the brightest budget projector, this can certainly be termed as one of the brightest projectors in the affordable category.
Despite companies staking claims on unrealistic brightness values, remember, that none of the budget projectors come with a brightness above 4000 lumens. And, this projector, too, has a brightness hovering around this value.
This projector has impressed me a lot with its superb performance. The brightness of this projector is pretty good. The brightness of this projector is pretty which makes it a delight to watch movies and shows on it. The color reproduction of this projector is also pretty good and you get to see realistic colors on this projector that exhibit good vibrancy.
The overall picture quality of this projector is very good, which enhances the viewing experience. This projector is capable of rendering deeper Blacks than found on any other budget category projector. Apart from this, it is the only projector that comes with HDR support. When you play Netflix or Disney Hotstar through an Android TV box, HDR gets displayed in the details of that video. Whereas other projectors despite being connected to a 4k HDR Android TV box, do not display HDR or 4k.
When you connect this projector to a 4k Android TV box, you get the option of 4k@30 fps in the settings and UHD resolution gets displayed on the screen, whereas, other budget projectors display only 1080p resolution. Although while playing Netflix and Amazon Prime videos, 4k does not get displayed in detail, 4k HDR gets displayed while watching Disney Hotstar content.
Apart from this, the projector is capable of directly playing 4k HDR videos through its USB port. Right now, I am playing uncompressed 4k HDR content through my 1TB hard drive and this projector is playing these files pretty smoothly, without missing audio.
This projector played all file formats stored on my hard drive without any lag. This portion of the video has been added later on when I connected this projector to my PS5 PlayStation for gaming. Then I marked that this projector is capable of playing 4k HDR games up to 60 Hz. You can see for yourselves the details of this projector as PS5 is capable of displaying the details of any external device connected to it. This projector supports 4k HDR & the HDCP version of its HDMI port is 2.3. It supports 4k@60Hz. And, when you play Netflix or Amazon Prime content through PS5 videos do show 4k HDR in detail, which confirms that this projector supports 4k HDR in reality.
This projector comes with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. While watching normal content you will not observe any motion blur. Till the time you are not watching any fast-moving action scenes, you get a somewhat blur-free experience on this projector. The pictures look adequately sharp on it. As far as a blur on corners is concerned, while watching pictures no such blur is noticeable, but, none of the projectors, is able to give a 100% blur-free viewing experience on all four corners. Even, on the best of the best projectors in the budget category, you certainly get to see a negligible up to 5% blur on some of the other corners.
And here, I would like to mention one more thing, extreme sharpness on a home projector kills the cinematic experience. A projector performs superbly only when it has adequate sharpness. High sharpness is apt only for presentations or teaching purposes. High sharpness is redundant for home Cinema projection. In my opinion, till the time you are not watching some textual material on a projector, you should reduce the sharpness to get a cinematic experience.
Reducing sharpness gives you soft images, which to an extent gives you a cinema hall-like viewing experience. These are the best picture settings of this projector, if you want you can note them down. Of the preset Modes, the best one is the Movie Mode. When I review any projector, you all keep asking me about the largest projection size of that projector. So today I have come on the rooftop of my apartment to give this a try. Here, I have got a very big wall that diagonally measures about 25ft, which means it is capable of forming a screen size of 300 inches.
The wall is extremely dirty that has turned black with fungus all over it. Let's try projecting on it. You can see that even at 300 inches the brightness is fairly good and the images appear clear and sharp. If this wall would have been nicely painted then the performance would have been excellent. Now, let's project this projector on a 35ft or 420 inches diagonal Aluminium wall.
This is a Mall adjacent to my building and I am projecting on the wall of their warehouse from a distance of approximately 42 ft. This wall is constructed from Aluminium sheets and it is not plain. The sheets are grooved. See for yourself that even a 420 inches projection is looking good. The audio of this projector is also very good. It supports Dolby audio, which gets displayed while watching Dolby content. Apart from being loud, the sound is rich in quality. Dialogues are crystal clear and the musical beats also appeal to the ears.
Audio
The audio of this projector is fairly audible in a medium to a big-sized room. The Vivid Mode is the best-preset mode for audio. For connecting a 5.1 home theatre system, you need to use the 3.5 mm audio port of this projector. As far as the smartness of this projector is concerned, this is an Android projector that comes with Android 9.0. As I have been telling earlier too, none of the projectors come with an official Android. Because of this, except for YouTube, none of the applications plays high-resolution content. If you need the best picture quality, you need to buy an Android TV box so that you can churn out the optimum performance out of your projector.
Connection
I have connected this projector to my Meecool Android TV box, you can connect it to your Mi TV box also. In my opinion, an Android TV box gives you a better picture quality than the Fire TV stick. This projector is capable of casting the content of your Android and iOS devices smoothly. You can enjoy it on a big screen. If we talk about its fan's noise, it is more or less negligible, which fades behind the audio and is hardly audible. Apart from the Android TV box and Amazon Fire TV stick, you can connect this projector to a set-top box, DVD player, PlayStation, etc.
Through Bluetooth, you can wirelessly connect your headphones, gaming controller, keyboard and mouse to this projector. Gaming is smooth on this projector, you don't get to see any lag on it. For gamers, this is a pretty good option in budget. If you are not a hard-core gamer, who needs VRR and a high refresh rate, you will definitely enjoy gaming on it. You get the option of playing 4k HDR games on it.
So, in the end, I will just say that though this projector is a bit costly, the features that you get on it are not found on any other projector falling in the budget category. This is also one of the reasons to purchase it as it gives full value for your money.
