Post a Comment

The projector whose review I have brought for you today, I have been testing that projector for the last 15 days. This projector was sent to me as a 4K projector, but, when we tested it, we found that though it is a brilliant projector, its native resolution is not 4K, it is 4k input compatible.

Here we are talking about Optoma GT1080HDR DLP projector, which, comes with an FHD native resolution and is a very good exceptional short throw projector, which has the capability to form a very huge screen even in a very small room.

It enables you to watch all content in a cinema hall like picture quality. You get real 3D experience on it through active shutter glasses. This projector is 4k compatible, which means that it has a true 4K support. While watching 4k content on Netflix, Prime Video, Disney Hotstar & Zee 5, you are able to see 4K UHD written on the screen.

Projectors that come with fake 4K support never display 4K UHD on the screen, while playing 4K content through these applications. And here, I would like to apprise you that none of the native 4K projectors comes below the price of 1.5 lakh! In fact, a 1.5 lakh projector is the cheapest 4K projector that you can buy! However, even the cheapest 4K projector, like the BenQ 4K projector, is not a short-throw one, which this projector is.

This projector is also a very good option for gamers. In this video, I will also play a 4K HDR game on it through the PS5 PlayStation. Right now, this Optoma projector is available for purchase at a price of Rs 1.40 lakh, its purchase link is there in the description box below this video. And if you like this video don't forget to subscribe and give a thumbs up. So now, let's start this video with the unboxing of this projector. This is the Optoma GT1080HDR projector, which comes in this box.

Inside the box

Inside the box, apart from the projector, there is a power cord, a remote, two AAA batteries and a user manual guide. Coming to its built quality and design, this projector comes in an off-white glossy finish. The built quality of the projector is very good and in looks, it imparts a premium feel. On the front, and, on the sides, this type of line design is given.

On the sides, in between these lines, there are open spaces for ventilation. The lens cover has been constructed out of frosted plastic material, which has been attached to the projector with the help of a thread. Beneath the cover, there is a lens, which is a bulging short throw lens, pretty different in construction from other projector lenses.

On the sides

Due to this short throw lens, you can place the projector pretty near to the screen and form a very big screen. Above the lens, there is a focus wheel, and, besides the lens, there is an IR blaster. All physical buttons have been provided near the edge of the upper surface. And the Optoma branding is provided next to it.

Backside

On the backside of this projector, there are two HDMI ports, out of which, the first HDMI port has version 2.0 and its HDCP version is 2.2. The second HDMI port has version 1.4 and its HDCP version is 2.2. The first HDMI comes with 4K @ 60 hertz with HDR support, whereas, the second HDMI supports MHL cable and has 4K @ 30 Hz compatibility.

Besides the HDMI port is the USB power out port which supports charging. You can provide power to your fire stick through this USB port. Apart from these, there is a VGA in, a VGA out, and, an RS232 port. On the extreme right side, there is an audio in, and, an audio out port. Here, on the left bottom side, there is a Power port besides which there is an anti-theft lock. Underneath the projector, apart from the rubber legs, there is a metal strip on which complete details of the projector are mentioned.

Appearence

Overall in looks, this projector has a very good built quality and a premium design. Coming to the remote, it is an ergonomically designed remote, which gives a comfortable grip on the hand. You get illuminated buttons on the remote and there are buttons for almost all functions. Now let's talk about the features and specifications as given by the company. This is a DLP projector that supports 4K UHD input. It downscales the 4k input and plays it in the native resolution of this projector, which is 1080p. It comes with HDR 10 support and has a 6 segment colour wheel, which produces accurate colours with sRGB and REC.709 colour profiles.

This projector comes with Dynamic Black Technology, which produces deep Blacks and yields a high contrast ratio. It comes with an enhanced gaming mode and gives a fast response time of 8.4 ms. Apart from this, this projector comes with a 120 Hz refresh rate. This is a short-throw projector, which is capable of projecting a 120 inches screen from a distance of only 4 feet. The brightness of this projector is 3800 ANSI lumens and its contrast ratio is 50000:1. The lamp life of this projector is 15000 hours. It comes with MHL connectivity, which means that you can connect your phone or your tablet to this projector and play their content on a huge screen.

As soon as it gets HDMI signals, the projector switches on automatically, and, because of this, the projector and your HDMI device switch on at the same time. The projector has a 40 degrees vertical keystone correction, and, for audio, there is a 10 Watts speaker. So these were the company given specifications, now, let's talk about the real performance of this projector.

Features

The best feature of this projector is that you can project a huge screen from a very short distance, which is not possible through other DLP projectors. From just a distance of 1.6 m, you can project a screen size of 150 inches, and, from a 3.3 ft distance, you can project a 90 inches screen. The colour reproduction of this projector is superb that imitates real-life images.

Through this projector, you get almost a cinema-hall-like colour reproduction. The pictures appear super-refined, apart from being realistic. Through this projector, you can get exactly a cinema hall-like cinematic experience, within the confines of your home. The projected pictures exhibit deep blacks and many details are visible in them. The digital noise in images is almost negligible, which enhances the viewing experience to a large extent.

Though this cannot be termed as the brightest projector yet its brightness is pretty good and just sufficient to give a cinema hall-like viewing experience. Extreme sharpness and brightness are adequate for projectors which are basically meant for presentations. However, the cinematic experience is got only on those projectors that have sufficiently good brightness and a bit softer images. You must have marked that even in cinema halls the pictures don't appear very sharp. On the contrary, they are softer and give a realistic experience. The same thing is there with this projector too! The picture quality of this projector is more or less like a cinema hall.

This projector is the best choice for those who want to project a very big screen, but the limited projecting distance of their room does not allow them to do so. This projector gives you a multiplex-like giant screen right in your house. Though you can play this projector comfortably in a dimly-lit room, its best performance is got in a dark room. The 4k content exhibit super refined picture quality and HDR works amazingly well on this projector.

The HDR Film Mode gives the best cinematic experience. The picture quality of this projector is superb, when you play 4K movies, it is very difficult to conclude that the resolution is only FHD and not 4K. The picture resolution looks too good, which creates an illusion that the content is playing in 4k. This projector, through its cinematic picture performance, leaves behind all the projectors including the branded ones that I have reviewed till date.

Watching movies on this projector is a virtual treat, which gives you exactly a cinema hall life feel within the confines of your home. 4k content looks superb on this projector, you can clearly see each and every detail even in dark scenes. To a large extent, this projector gives a blur-free viewing experience even on the corners.

While watching non-HDR content, sRGB & Cinema Modes give the best viewing experience. You also get a zoom feature on this projector, which zooms the picture to a great extent and makes them appear gigantic. But you need to remember that the HDMI source through which you are playing content should be real HDR 10 enabled.

When I connected this projector to the Mi Android TV box, this projector failed to go into the HDR Mode, but, when I connected the Mecool Android TV Box with this projector, it automatically started playing contents in the HDR mode. If we talk about the audio quality of this projector, it is pretty good. The dialogues are crystal clear and the audio is fairly audible in a small or medium-sized room. However, for a cinema-like audio experience, you need to connect this projector to a soundbar or home theatre.

Though the sound of the fan in this projector is not much distracting, in the absence of audio, it is fairly audible. On this projector, you get a very good real 3D experience. Through active shutter glasses in a complete darkroom, you can nicely enjoy 3D movies. At this price point, this projector is an attractive package for gamers. The refresh rate of 120 Hz, along with a low input lag and a fast response time makes this projector a fairly good option for gaming. After projecting a very big screen from a short distance you can very well enjoy gaming on it.

Gaming on a big screen makes you feel as if you are right there in the center where the action is taking place. Through this projector, gaming can be done smoothly without any lag, and, the 120 Hz refresh rate, grants this projector a good motion handling capabilities. You can play 4K HDR PS5 games very smoothly on this projector.

Though this projector downscales 4k content into its native FHD resolution, you get to see 4K written on the screen. In the enhanced gaming mode, you get an input lag of 16.4 ms while playing 1080p content @ 60 Hz, whereas, while playing 1080p@120 Hz you get an input lag of 8.4 ms. In the end, I will just say that if you are desirous of forming a huge screen even in a very small room so that you get an exactly cinema-hall-like experience, then this short-throw projector is the best option at this price point. On it, you get a good refresh rate that grants you a blur-free viewing experience
